Terms and Conditions

Welcome to Archipelago Montreal (the “Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing our website and purchasing our products—whether premade or custom-made—you agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions.

1. Product Descriptions & Natural Variations

We strive for the highest level of craftsmanship. However, because we work with organic materials:

  • Natural Characteristics: Wood features unique grain patterns, knots, and color variations. These are inherent qualities of the material and are not considered defects.

  • Environmental Reaction: Wood is sensitive to humidity. Archipelago Montreal is not responsible for minor warping or seasonal movement caused by extreme environmental changes in your home.

  • Digital Accuracy: We make every effort to display product colors accurately online; however, actual colors may vary depending on your monitor settings.

2. Online Shop (Premade Furniture)

  • Availability: All premade items are subject to availability. We reserve the right to limit quantities or discontinue products at any time.

  • Pricing: Prices are listed in Canadian Dollars (CAD). Shipping costs and applicable Quebec/Federal taxes (GST/QST) will be calculated at checkout.

  • Order Confirmation: Your receipt of an electronic order confirmation does not signify our acceptance of your order. We reserve the right to decline an order for any reason.

3. Custom Woodworks & Commissions

  • Design Approval: For custom projects, work begins only after the client approves the final design specifications and materials.

  • Deposits: A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to secure shop time and purchase materials.

  • Lead Times: Estimated completion dates are provided in good faith but are not guaranteed. Craftsmanship requires precision, and we will notify you of any significant delays.

  • Final Payment: The remaining balance must be paid in full prior to delivery or at the time of workshop pickup.

4. Shipping, Delivery & Pickup

  • Workshop Pickup: Clients may opt for free pickup at our Montreal workshop by appointment.

  • Local Delivery: We offer delivery within the Greater Montreal Area for a flat fee. The delivery site must be accessible and cleared for the arrival of the furniture.

  • Shipping: For items shipped via third-party carriers, risk of loss passes to the customer once the item leaves our workshop.

5. Returns, Refunds & Cancellations

  • Premade Items: Unused premade furniture may be returned within 14 days of delivery for a refund, minus a 15% restocking fee. Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer.

  • Custom Items: Because they are built to your specific requirements, all custom orders are Final Sale and cannot be cancelled once production has begun.

  • Damages: Please inspect your furniture upon arrival. Any damage must be reported to us within 48 hours with photo documentation.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Archipelago Montreal shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from the use of our products or website.

7. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of the District of Montreal.
